How to check and troubleshoot the curtain track?

Inspection steps

Observe the appearance--first check whether there is obvious deformation or damage on the surface of the track, such as whether the track is bent or broken, and whether the pulleys are dislodged or damaged. At the same time, check whether the mounting screws are loose, as this may cause the track to shift and affect the normal pulling of the curtains.

  •  Check the sliding situation

Manually pull the curtains and feel if the pulling is smooth. If it feels stuck, there may be debris in the track or problems with the pulleys. For electric curtain track, after opening, observe whether the curtains run smoothly and evenly, with or without abnormal shaking or stagnation.

  • Check the integrity of the accessories

Check the accessories of the track, such as whether the pull rope of the manual track is intact, with or without wear and tear, broken; whether the motor of the electric track, the remote control and its connecting wires are normal.

Troubleshooting methods

  • Track blockage or pulley problem

If there is dust or debris inside the track that causes jamming, use a small brush to clean the track and then wipe it with a soft cloth. If the pulley is damaged, purchase a pulley of the same model for replacement. For rusty tracks, sandpaper can be used to gently sand the rusty parts and then apply anti-rust paint or lubricant.

  • Tie rope failure (manual track)

When the pull rope is worn out, replace it with a new one. If the pull rope comes out of the track pulley, it is necessary to re-thread the rope into the pulley, which may require disassembling part of the track fittings, take care to save the small parts when operating.

  • Electrical faults with motorised track

If the motorised curtain track fails to start, first check that the power is on, the socket is working and the remote control batteries are charged. If the motor has running sound but the curtains do not move, it may be that the transmission parts are disconnected, you need to open the track shell (in case of power failure), check and reconnect the transmission parts. If the motor is damaged, it is best to contact a professional repairer for replacement.
